Hi! I’m Paul Johnson.

I am a retired Automobile mechanic and Drag Racer and now I overhaul carburetors.

I have overhauled many carburetors for the local hot rod and classic car enthusiast.

I have built several carburetors for local stock and super stock Drag Racers.

I began my career in the local Ford dealership in 1964 just out of high school.

I worked at the Ford dealership until 1966 when I joined the Navy.

In the navy I studied electricity and electronics. I was then trained in advanced undersea weapons (Torpedo’s).

After leaving the Navy in 1969, I returned to the Ford dealership.

  • I worked at the Ford dealership until June of 1972 when I took over the local gas/service station.
  • From June of 1972 until May of 2010 I was self-employed in a variety of automobile related businesses including:
  • three gas/service stations (Two at the same time),
  • A repair garage
  • A speed shop
  • And from 2000 to 2010 I sold auto parts and accessories on line utilizing eBay and my own web site.
  • I spent the last six years of my career (2010 to 2016) working at the local power company in the transmission control center as a SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) developer. I created and modified electrical displays which are used in the control room for the purpose of controlling and switching the electrical grid.

In between all of the action, I got sucked into Drag Racing.

In 1969 when I returned to the Ford dealership after returning from the Navy, I purchased a 1969 Mustang.

The ford dealership was looking for someone to represent them at a Ford sponsored race event at New England Dragway. I got selected to represent the dealership with my 1969 Mustang.

After a few minor modifications I attended the race in question and low and behold, I won my category.

Yup, I was bit by the bug. To keep the story shorter than it is, from 1969 until 1974 I ran a variety of classes with the 1969 Mustang.

Meanwhile, I found an interest in Funny Cars.

From late 1974 until 1994 I managed to campaign three different Funny Cars.

My last Funny Car was nationally competitive.

I won a major National event and two Fall Funny Car National events at New England Dragway plus numerous other match races and local events.

And now, I rebuild carburetors.
